1st Annual Hoboken Pub Golf Bar Crawl

What do you get when you combine golf rules with beer drinking and leave out all the boring stuff in the middle? One truly epic night of drunken debauchery! Hoboken buddies Tommy “Stizzles” and Mike T. hosted the 1st annual Hoboken Pub Golf Bar Crawl this past weekend, and I was honored to be invited and take part in this pinnacle game of choice in the modern sporting era. We all finished strong after an amazing 8 bar course and because we were all too smashed to keep track of the champion, I would say we all ended the night victorious.

This past Saturday, August 1st, 2009, 30+ men and women attended the 1st Annual Hobo Pub Golf Invitational and crawled their way through 8 different bars throughout the mile square. The rules were simple. Each bar is a different “hole” with a different par value. If you drink more then the par you are under par, if you drink less you are over par.

For example: par 2 you drink 3, you are at -1, if you have one drink on a par 2 you are at +1, if you drink 2 you are at par (0). to get your final score add up all the holes. pretty simple really.) Each par is the suggested drink minimum, however no one was required to EVER drink more than ur comfort level. The major difference is that the player with the highest score WINS (no prizes, just pride .. and that’s the best prize of all!)

Here was the challenging course layout, each with a nice special discount to keep our wallets happy.

Hole 1 – Texas Arizona (par 2)
Hole 2 – The Dubliner (par 1)
Hole 3 – Black Bear (par 1)
Hole 4 – Sullivan’s (par 1)
Hole 5 – The Mile Square (par 2)
Hole 6 – Duffy’s (par 1)
Hole 7 – Green Rock (par 1)
Hole 8 – McSwiggans (par 3)

By donating 10 dollars, each person received this awesome limited edition Hobo Pub Golf Tee. On the front of the shirt is a nicely designed logo of a guy smashing a beer mug with a golf club.

And on the back of each t-shirt is each person’s pub golf scorecard to tally the number of drinks per bar. And of course, extra white space for everyone to write ridiculous words and draw obscene drawings for extra entertainment as the night progressed.

The day started at exactly 1:00pm and ended for most people around 1am-ish. So much went on that night that it’s best if I let the photos tell the story.
