Cobblestones on Court Street

Cobblestones on Court Street

I have an obsession for cobblestone roads, especially ones that still exist around town that reminds Hoboken of its past. I took this photograph on Court Street, which runs between Hudson and Washington from 7th to Newark Streets. As you stare down this long deserted alleyway, you could almost flashback to the way it used to be hundreds of years ago, originally providing access to the residents’ mews or stables. Today it is used primarily as an alley and access for home garages. For me, it’s a quick and bumpy shortcut when I’m biking around town and want to avoid the heavy pedestrian traffic on good ol’ Washington Street.

INTRODUCING THE HG SNAPSHOT SERIES

This has been the first of many HG snapshots that will be featured here on a weekly basis. Hoboken is filled with the most gorgeous views, amazing historic landmarks, awesome vintage signage and the most random objects. And with the help of my handy dandy HG cam, I’d like to share with you all of the interesting shots that I’ve taken. Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

I like the remaining piece of cobblestone road located at the rear of the former Downtown Pub that appears to be being built around right now. Perhaps they are turning it a Superhero hideout, I think it could work for someone like Batman perhaps!
