St. Patrick’s Day Parade

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Posted on 04. Mar, 2009 in Leisure

The parade is the one chance for family, kids and pets to come out and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in Hoboken before the drunken ruckus starts.  Although I enjoy the parade, it seems to be pretty repetitive every year.  This year I’m probably going to skip it, pig out on a good brunch and then head to some house parties.  But since it’s one of the most festive and popular parades in Hoboken, here’s a quick summary of information you need to know about the parade.

When: Parade starts at 1PM, Saturday, March 7th

Where: Starts at corner of 14th and Washington and marches downtown, ending in front of City Hall

Length of Duration: Approximately 1 hour in length

What You’ll See
- Parade Grand Marshall for this year’s parade is is Marie Wall, owner of The Shannon Lounge
- Award ceremonies take place during the parade for Community Service and Irishman of the Year.
- Bagpipe bands, marching bands from high schools across NJ including Hoboken High School
- New Jersey and New York fire fighters
- Quaker City String Band (part of the Philadelphia Mummers)
- Lots of family, kids and dogs
- People starting to really drunk and ticketed for open containers
