Calling all spaghetti lovers! Get ready for the annual Spaghetti Block Party, where people gather by the Hoboken waterfront for some non-stop vacuum-suctioning of these delectable classic Italian noodles. The idea was to re-live a similar Spaghetti Block Party community event that took place in the 1950's on Washington Street. In 2005, this event was brought back in celebration for the 150 years of Hoboken and since then, has continued ever since each summer. It's pretty much a big outdoor community fiesta with lots of pasta! You must buy tickets to come to this event and don't worry, it's not too late. No man or woman is lonely eating spaghetti - it requires so much attention. So make sure you go and show spaghetti some lovin'!

What do you get when you combine golf rules with beer drinking and leave out all the boring stuff in the middle? One truly epic night of drunken debauchery! Hoboken buddies Tommy "Stizzles" and Mike T. hosted the 1st annual Hoboken Pub Golf Bar Crawl this past weekend, and I was honored to be invited and take part in this pinnacle game of choice in the modern sporting era. We all finished strong after an amazing 8 bar course and because we were all too smashed to keep track of the champion, I would say we all ended the night victorious.

Anyone could say that the actual city of Hoboken is a museum in and of itself. We walk on ground that was once trekked on by the Lenape Indians, Henry Hudson, Colonel Stevens, Frank Sinatra and Gideon Sundback, the Swedish engineer who invented the first zipper. Everyday we pass historical landmarks, from Elysian Park, baseball's birthplace to the first Blimpie establishment. Being a history buff myself, once in a while I like to take a step back and think how history is all interconnected and appreciate everything that has happened up until my existence. Recently, I satisfied my craving for Hoboken history by visiting the Hoboken Historical Museum.

I finally got the chance to take advantage of the free kayaking this weekend in Hoboken. Yes, I came in contact with Hudson River water and did not turn into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle! And overall, I have to say it was one of the most relaxing activities I've done in a long time in town. Once you get into that river, you can paddle your way to a clear, relaxed mind and of course, get some much-needed exercise. Last day to kayak for free until next summer is on August 15, so be sure to check it out!

With the beautiful sunny weather this weekend, there couldn't have been a better day to hold the 4th annual OLG Funfest. Sponsored by Our Lady of Grace and St. Joseph's Church, the festival took place at Church Square Park, where Hoboken and Hudson County residents got to spend time with family and enjoy some delicious food, arts and crafts, pony rides and carnival games. It's summer events like these that make Hoboken a great city to live in. And although I didn't win any cool stuffed animals, I did have a great time taking photos at the event and meeting some really cool peeps. Check out some of my snapshots from this event!

As I continued my quest for the best adult rec rooms across the mile square, I had come to a realization that I forgot to review one of my town favorites. When I'm looking for a nice spot to relax after work and pound a few of those drink specials, I head over to the small friendly neighborhood Irish pub better known as Duffy's. I'm a big fan of great bars that sit off of Washington Street because they don't get too crowded and you'll usually meet some really friendly Hobokenites rather than the rude out-of-towners that tend to crawl the popular Washington Street bars. But if there's two main things I love about Duffy's: the great bartenders and the little nook of darts and buck hunter!

Summer in Hoboken is my favorite time of the year. It's that time where more residents are outside enjoying the outdoor restaurant and bar settings, children are playing in the parks and most of all, the city offers tons of free outdoor cultural and recreational events. From outdoor movies and theatrical performance to family fun nights and a Sinatra impersonation contest, Hoboken residents will have a great variety of local activities to keep them entertained.
