On my quest to find the best bars with games and rec rooms, I found that no other bar in Hoboken can compare to the variety of bar games that The Shannon has to offer. Located in downtown Hoboken, this game room paradise offers over seven types of bar games with occasional special game nights using classic games that we all love. They also carry almost every major sports package, so if you’re looking for a great bar to watch a big game or your favorite team, check out their insanely ginormous projection screen in the back of the bar. So walk in, have a drink and enjoy the drinker’s ultimate playground.

As I continued my quest for the best adult rec rooms across the mile square, I had come to a realization that I forgot to review one of my town favorites. When I’m looking for a nice spot to relax after work and pound a few of those drink specials, I head over to the small friendly neighborhood Irish pub better known as Duffy’s. I’m a big fan of great bars that sit off of Washington Street because they don’t get too crowded and you’ll usually meet some really friendly Hobokenites rather than the rude out-of-towners that tend to crawl the popular Washington Street bars. But if there’s two main things I love about Duffy’s: the great bartenders and the little nook of darts and buck hunter!

To the Hoboken bar-hoppin’ veterans, Black Bear is well-known for the perfect spot to meet up with friends, watch some sports on 1 of the 42 television screens and enjoy a nice, big bucket of some of the most delicious wings in the mile square. And while they do have dart boards, what really makes this bar stand out as one of the best rec rooms is its weekly Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. Every Thursday night at 8:00pm, Black Bear teams up with Budweiser to sign up 32 intoxicated men and women to battle each other off in the most elegant and profound conflict resolution games of our childhood days. Check out this epic Thursday night battle!

We can all admit that there are probably no Hoboken bars that come close to a Dave & Busters. However, I’m proud to say that the Mile Square does have its fair share of adult playgrounds that will keep us both entertained and more importantly, well-intoxicated. Many Hoboken friends offered recommendations for beginning my quest with the most obvious of playful watering holes. With that being said, let’s start this mission for the best bar games and rec rooms with my friend’s local favorite dive bar, 8th Street Tavern.
